Overview

Player profile pages provide in-depth statistics, career information, and visual analytics for MLB players past and present.

Player Profile Header

Each player page features:
  • Player Name: First name and last name prominently displayed
  • Headshot: High-quality player photo (silo for active players, action shots for retired)
  • Jersey Number: Current uniform number
  • Position: Primary position abbreviation (P, C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, OF, DH)
  • Team Association: Current team or most recent team
  • Action Controls:
    • Add to comparison tool
    • Add to favorites

Personal Information

The player info section displays biographical details:

Jersey Number

Current uniform number worn by the player.

Position

Primary defensive position (abbreviated).

Birth Date

Date of birth with current age calculated automatically.

Birth Place

City and country of birth.
All player data syncs directly from MLB’s official player database.

Roster History

The roster entries section shows the player’s team history:
  • All teams played for
  • Seasons with each team
  • Jersey numbers used
  • Status (Active, 40-Man, Injured List, etc.)

Career Statistics

Player stats are organized into hitting and pitching categories with interactive toggles.

Hitting Statistics

View career batting stats including:
  • AVG - Batting average
  • HR - Home runs
  • RBI - Runs batted in
  • H - Hits
  • 2B - Doubles
  • 3B - Triples
  • BB - Walks
  • SB - Stolen bases
  • SLG - Slugging percentage

Pitching Statistics

Complete pitching metrics:
  • ERA - Earned run average
  • WHIP - Walks + hits per inning pitched
  • IP - Innings pitched
  • K - Strikeouts
  • BB - Walks
  • HBP - Hit batsmen
  • W - Wins
  • L - Losses
  • SV - Saves
For two-way players like Shohei Ohtani, both hitting and pitching stats are available and can be toggled between.

Hot and Cold Zones

Strike Zone Heat Maps

For batters, interactive strike zone visualizations show:
  • Hot Zones: Areas where the player hits well (highlighted in green/yellow)
  • Cold Zones: Areas where the player struggles (shown in blue/gray)
  • Batting Average: By zone location
  • Pitch Type Breakdown: Performance against different pitch types

Pitch Location Analysis

For pitchers, zone charts display:
  • Where pitches are most effective
  • Opponent batting average by zone
  • Strike percentage by location
  • Pitch type distribution
Hot/cold zones update throughout the season based on recent at-bats and provide valuable insights into player tendencies.

Year-by-Year Visualization

The interactive year-by-year stat viewer lets you:
