Best Practices for Community Engagement

Be a positive member of the CricTalk community.

Posting Guidelines

Be Respectful

Treat all community members with respect, even when discussing rival teams.

Stay On Topic

Keep comments and messages relevant to cricket and the specific post or match.

Add Value

Contribute meaningful insights rather than one-word responses or spam.

Think Before You Post

Review your comment or message before sending—you can edit later, but prevention is better.

Comment Etiquette

1

Read before commenting

Read the full post and existing comments before adding your own to avoid repetition.
2

Be constructive

If you disagree, explain why respectfully rather than just criticizing.
3

Use proper language

Avoid excessive caps, too many emojis, or poor grammar that makes comments hard to read.
4

Acknowledge others

Reference other users’ comments when building on their points to foster discussion.

Room Chat Best Practices

Don’t send multiple messages in rapid succession. Combine your thoughts into single, well-formed messages instead.
Cricket fans are passionate, but remember that others may support different teams or have different views.
Room chats are most engaging during live matches. Try to participate in real-time for the best experience.
If you make a typo or mistake, use the edit feature rather than sending a correction message.
Avoid deleting messages unless they contain errors. Frequent deletions can disrupt conversation flow.

Engagement Tips

Building your reputation: Consistently engaging with quality comments and messages helps you build a positive reputation in the CricTalk community.
Peak activity times: Rooms are most active during live matches, especially high-profile games. Join during these times for maximum engagement.
Express yourself: Use likes to quickly show appreciation, and comments when you have something substantive to add.

View Counts

Posts track how many times they’ve been viewed:
  • The eye icon shows total view count
  • Views increment when users open the post detail page
  • View counts help you understand post reach and popularity
View counts are public and visible to all users alongside likes and comments.

Interaction Notifications

Stay informed about engagement with your content:
  • Likes on your posts: See when others appreciate your content
  • Comments on your posts: Get notified of new discussions
  • Replies in rooms: Stay updated on active conversations
Notification features are being enhanced to provide better real-time updates on your interactions.

Troubleshooting Interactions

Check your internet connection and ensure the comment field wasn’t empty. Try sending again.
Verify that the room status is “Live”. You cannot edit messages in Upcoming or Finished rooms.
Refresh the post or your feed. If the issue persists, check your internet connection.
Room messages update in real-time. If you don’t see new messages, try pulling down to refresh or check your connection.
