Kafka’s EPUB reader provides a comfortable reading experience with extensive customization options. Adjust fonts, text size, background colors, and more to match your reading preferences.

Opening EPUB Files

Start reading EPUB books from the app:
1

Select an EPUB item

Find an item that contains EPUB files through search or browse. EPUB files are common for fiction and non-fiction books.
2

Choose your file

On the item detail page, tap an EPUB file to open it in the reader. The file will load and display the book content.
3

Wait for parsing

EPUB files are parsed when first opened. A progress indicator shows while the book is being prepared for reading.
EPUB files must be downloaded before reading. The download happens automatically when you open an EPUB for the first time.

Reading Interface

The EPUB reader displays text in a clean, book-like format:
  • Chapter view - Content flows continuously through chapters
  • Justified text - Text is justified for a traditional book appearance
  • Custom fonts - Choose from multiple font families
  • Adjustable size - Scale text to your preferred reading size
  • Theme options - Select background colors for different lighting conditions
  • Scroll to read - Scroll vertically through the book content
  • Continuous flow - Chapters flow seamlessly from one to the next
  • Tap for settings - Tap anywhere to access reader settings
The EPUB reader remembers your scroll position, so you’ll always return to where you left off.

Size Selection

Choose a size where you can comfortably read 8-12 words per line without straining.

Background Choice

Use sepia/warm tones during daytime, dark modes with low brightness at night to reduce eye strain.

Lighting Adjustment

Combine background color with device brightness for optimal comfort in different environments.
