Best Practices for SKU Management

While SKU fields are available in the system, here are recommendations for effective product identification:

SKU Naming Conventions

  1. Use Consistent Prefixes: Organize by category
    • AUD- for Audio products
    • CAB- for Cables
    • TEC- for Keyboards (Teclados)
    • MOU- for Mice
    • HUB- for USB Hubs
  2. Sequential Numbers: Append a unique 3-digit number (e.g., AUD-001, AUD-002)
  3. Keep It Short: Aim for 6-8 characters for easy scanning
  4. Avoid Special Characters: Stick to letters, numbers, and hyphens

Product Organization Tips

  • Use Categories Effectively: Assign products to appropriate categories for easier filtering
  • Set Realistic Minimums: Base minimum stock on sales velocity and lead times
  • Add Detailed Descriptions: Help staff identify products quickly during sales
  • Include Brand Names: Makes inventory management and customer service easier

Product Catalog Overview

The main products panel (Inventario > Productos) displays:
  • Total product count in the card title
  • Sortable table with columns: SKU, Producto, Categoría, Precio, Stock, Mín., Estado, Acciones
