Starting today, every AI action in Mintlify has a fixed credit price, and you only pay when we deliver a result. Assistant answers and automation updates cost credits. Everything else is free.
We are also providing unlimited editor agent and Slack agent usage with Pro and Enterprise plans. Your plan, included credits, and the price per credit remain unchanged.
For almost everyone, that's a price cut. Based on current usage, 96% of teams will spend the same or fewer credits on the assistant, and more than 99% will spend the same or fewer on automations. Automations change the most: most runs check for changes and find nothing to update. Those are now free, so teams using automations should spend around 70% fewer credits than they did last month.
What's changing
Credits previously varied with the tokens used by each run. Now every action has a fixed price, and actions that produce nothing cost nothing:
- Assistant answers a question: 25 credits
- Assistant can't answer: 0
- Automation updates your docs: 250 credits
- Automation finds nothing to update: 0
For details on what counts as an answer or an update, see the credits documentation.
Why we are changing it
In the spring, we moved every AI feature onto a single credit meter based on the tokens used to perform the work. The goal: you would pay for exactly what you used, and one meter would cover every feature we shipped.
It solved our problem, not yours. Tokens are how we buy AI, not how teams plan to use it. The same automation could cost a different amount every run. The assistant charged for every message, including the ones it couldn't answer. The meter counted effort instead of results.
When we asked customers what made credits difficult, nearly every one of them gave the same answer: unpredictability.
Pay for outcomes, not effort
You can't budget against a black box. Customers couldn't predict what an automation would cost, which made it difficult to plan around.
Now pricing reflects the value we visibly provide. An assistant answer is 25 credits. A docs update from an automation run costs 250. If the Assistant can't answer, or an automation determines nothing needs updating, you pay nothing.
You know the price before you act, and you never pay for a run that produces nothing. When the agent gets smarter, the price stays the same, and you just get a better result.
Editor and Slack agents are included
These editor and Slack agents help teams turn a support thread, a PR, or a rough idea into finished content with a person in the loop. We want teams doing more of this work and metering was getting in the way.
Both are now included with Pro and Enterprise at no charge.
What you need to do
Nothing. The new pricing applies automatically. Your existing plan and prepaid credits are unaffected. You can see every action and its cost on the Usage page.
Credits now measure what you get, not what it took to produce it. If this change leaves you worse off, email support@mintlify.com and we'll make it right.

Scaling llms.txt
Large documentation sites were hitting Mintlify's 100,000-character llms.txt limit and omitting pages. We rebuilt generation as a hierarchy of files so agents can reach every page without loading the entire index.
