Discord

Discord serves developer documentation to millions of developers every month on Mintlify, covering bots, the Social SDK, Activities, guides, and a full API reference at docs.discord.com.

2026

Discord is one of the most important platforms in the developer ecosystem. With over 500 million registered users and a thriving community of bot builders, game developers, and integration creators, docs.discord.com is visited by millions of developers every month.

For Discord's Developer Advocacy team, the quality of those docs is inseparable from the health of their developer ecosystem. Every developer building a bot, an Activity, or a game integration starts here, so the documentation had to be fast, beautiful, current, and increasingly readable by AI agents, not just humans.

Documentation for millions of developers

The numbers behind Discord's developer platform are substantial:

  • 500M+ registered Discord users
  • Millions of monthly developer sessions on docs.discord.com
  • 6 major doc sections built on Mintlify: Home, Bots & Companion Apps, Social SDK, Activities, Guides, Change Log, and Reference
  • Mintlify Enterprise
  • llms.txt enabled — docs structured for AI and agent consumption from day one

Building next-gen docs on Mintlify

Discord started as a self-serve Mintlify user in 2025 before moving to an Enterprise plan. In February 2026, the Mintlify team celebrated the full launch of their docs.

Discord's implementation is one of the most polished enterprise deployments in production. It covers the full breadth of Discord's developer platform across six sections — Home, Bots & Companion Apps, Social SDK, Activities, Guides, Change Log, and Reference.

The features powering docs.discord.com

  • Fully custom dark theme. Discord's signature dark navy aesthetic is applied end to end.
  • llms.txt. Discord's docs are built to be read by machines as well as humans.
  • mintcdn.com asset delivery. Images, hero illustrations, and media are served through Mintlify's CDN, ensuring fast global delivery for a developer audience with zero tolerance for slow pages.
  • Changelog with tag filters. Discord's Change Log uses Mintlify's changelog format with filterable tags across 12+ categories.
  • Right-rail navigation. Developers get deep navigation without losing context in long reference pages.
  • Git-sync workflow. Discord's engineering and DevRel teams write docs-as-code. Mintlify's native GitHub integration means documentation ships with code — no manual deploys, and no drift between what's built and what's documented.

Results in production

  • Millions of monthly developer sessions served on Mintlify infrastructure
  • Full API reference, changelog, and SDK docs live at docs.discord.com — one of the most-visited developer documentation sites in the world
  • llms.txt enabled, so Discord's docs are consumable by AI agents across the ecosystem
  • Fully in production and actively maintained, with zero reported downtime since launch

"We are officially migrated to our new docs platform, Mintlify! 🎉 This is just the first part of our project to improve the docs. We needed to get our content moved over to Mintlify before we can continue with the changes we want to make next. Mintlify gives us a much better foundation to build on, so we will be building out a new theme for that soon."
