Musika provides two powerful widgets that let you control your music and identify songs directly from your home screen without opening the app.

Music Player Widget

The music player widget gives you quick access to playback controls and now-playing information right on your home screen.

Adding the Music Player Widget

Long-press on home screen

Long-press on an empty space on your home screen to enter widget mode

Scroll through the widget list to find Musika

Tap the Music Player widget to add it to your home screen

Position the widget

Drag the widget to your desired location and release

Widget Sizes

The music player widget supports multiple sizes:
  • Small (2x2): Compact display with essential controls
  • Medium (4x2): Standard size with full track information
  • Large (4x3): Extended view with additional information

Find Widget

The Find widget provides instant song identification directly from your home screen using audio recognition technology.

  • Quick Recognition: Tap to identify songs playing around you

  • Integration: Works with Shazam’s music recognition service
  • Recognition History: View previously identified songs
  • Direct Playback: Tap identified songs to play them

Place the widget where you want it on your home screen

Using the Find Widget

  1. Tap the widget when music is playing
  2. Grant microphone permission if prompted
  3. Wait for recognition (usually 2-5 seconds)
  4. View results and tap to play the song in Musika
The Find widget requires microphone permission to record audio for song identification.

Widget Customization

While widgets inherit your app theme, you can customize their behavior:
  • Auto-refresh: Widgets automatically update with playback changes
  • Theme Integration: Widgets match your app’s dark/light theme
  • Battery Optimization: Widgets are designed for minimal battery impact

Troubleshooting

If your widget isn’t showing current playback:
  1. Remove and re-add the widget
  2. Check battery optimization settings for Musika
  3. Ensure Musika has permission to run in background
  4. Restart your device
If song recognition fails:
  1. Verify microphone permission is granted
  2. Check internet connection (required for recognition)
  3. Ensure music is audible and not too quiet
  4. Try again in a quieter environment
If widget buttons don’t work:
  1. Ensure Musika is running or was recently active
  2. Check if app has been force-stopped
  3. Remove and re-add the widget
  4. Verify playback service is running
