Overview

The Academic Data section captures your educational history, including your highest degree earned and any additional professional training, certifications, or courses you’ve completed.
This section has two parts:
  1. Highest Academic Degree (required) - Your formal education
  2. Additional Training/Certifications (optional but recommended) - Professional development courses

Accessing Academic Data Form

From your evaluation dashboard, click on Academic Data (Datos Académicos). You’ll be directed to:
/captureData/academicosCapture/[encrypted_evaluation_id]

Before You Begin

Gather information about:

Your Highest Degree

  • Degree type (Primaria, Secundaria, Preparatoria, Licenciatura, Maestría, Doctorado)
  • Institution name
  • Start and end dates (or period)
  • Supporting document type (certificate, diploma, transcript)
  • Document location

Professional Training (if applicable)

  • Course or certification name
  • Training institution
  • Start and end dates
  • Type of document received (certificate, diploma, constancia)
Have your educational documents ready. You’ll need to reference them and eventually upload them in the Documents section.

Part 1: Highest Academic Degree

Enter Degree Information

Último Grado (academicoUltimoGrado)
  • Select or enter your highest completed level of education:
    • Primaria (Elementary School)
    • Secundaria (Middle School)
    • Preparatoria / Bachillerato (High School)
    • Carrera Técnica (Technical Career)
    • Licenciatura (Bachelor’s Degree)
    • Maestría (Master’s Degree)
    • Doctorado (Doctorate/PhD)
Select your highest completed degree. If you’re currently pursuing a degree but haven’t graduated, list the highest degree you’ve already completed.

Specify Time Period

Período Inicio (academicoPeriodoInicio)
  • When you started this educational program
  • Format: Year or full date
  • Example: “2015” or “Agosto 2015”
Período Final (academicoPeriodoFinal)
  • When you completed/graduated
  • Format: Year or full date
  • Example: “2019” or “Julio 2019”
If you only remember the years, that’s sufficient. Exact months are helpful but not mandatory.

Enter Institution Details

Institución (academicoInstitucion)
  • Full name of the school, college, or university
  • Include the campus if there are multiple locations
  • Examples:
    • “Universidad Juárez del Estado de Durango”
    • “Instituto Tecnológico de Durango”
    • “Colegio de Bachilleres del Estado de Durango”

Document Information

Tipo de Documento (academicoDocumento)
  • What proof of completion you have:
    • Título (Degree/Title)
    • Cédula Profesional (Professional License)
    • Certificado (Certificate)
    • Diploma
    • Constancia (Letter of Completion)
    • Boleta de Calificaciones (Transcript)
Ubicación del Documento (academicoUbicacion)
  • Where the physical document is located
  • Examples:
    • “En mi domicilio”
    • “En oficina de recursos humanos”
    • “En trámite de expedición”
    • “Extraviado” (if lost)
You will need to upload this document later in the Documents section. Make sure you know where it is or can obtain a copy.

Save Degree Information

Click the save button to store your highest academic degree.Success message: “Último grado académico guardado”The system saves this to the tbl_dgo_academicos table.

Part 2: Additional Training & Certifications

After saving your highest degree, you can add professional training courses, workshops, certifications, or diplomas.

Click Add Training

Look for the section to add additional training or capacitaciones.

Enter Course Details

Detalle de Capacitación (capacitacionDetalle)
  • Full name of the course, workshop, or certification
  • Be specific
  • Examples:
    • “Curso de Derechos Humanos y Uso de la Fuerza”
    • “Certificación en Cadena de Custodia”
    • “Diplomado en Investigación Criminal”
    • “Taller de Ética Policial”

Training Period

Inicio (capacitacionInicio)
  • Start date of the training
  • Can be year, month/year, or full date
Final (capacitacionFinal)
  • Completion date
  • Use same format as start date
For single-day workshops, you can use the same date for both inicio and final.

Training Institution

Institución (capacitacionInstitucion)
  • Organization that provided the training
  • Examples:
    • “Centro de Control de Confianza”
    • “Secretaría de Seguridad Pública”
    • “Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Penales”
    • Name of private training company

Proof of Completion

Tipo de Documento (capacitacionDocumento)
  • What you received upon completion:
    • Constancia (Certificate of Attendance)
    • Diploma
    • Certificado (Certification)
    • Reconocimiento (Recognition)
Some trainings may not provide documentation. If this is the case, note “Sin documento” or “Verbal” and explain in observations if asked.

Save Training

Click save to add this training to your list.Success message: “Capacitación guardada!”The training is saved to tbl_dgo_capacitaciones table.

Add More Training (Optional)

Repeat steps 1-5 for each additional training, course, or certification.
Add the most relevant and recent training first. Focus on:
  • Required certifications for your position
  • Recent professional development (last 5 years)
  • Specialized training related to your duties

Managing Academic Data

Viewing Your Academic Information

The page displays:
  • Your highest academic degree
  • A list of all training/certifications you’ve added

Updating Your Degree Information

To edit your highest academic degree:
  1. The form will show your existing degree information
  2. Make any necessary changes
  3. Click update/save
  4. Success message: “Se actualizo grado academico”

Editing a Training Entry

To modify a training record:
  1. Click the edit button next to the training
  2. Update the fields
  3. Click save
  4. Success message: “Se actualizó capacitación”

Deleting Entries

Delete a Training/Certification:
  1. Click delete next to the training
  2. Confirm deletion
  3. Success message: “Se eliminó capacitación”
Delete Your Degree:
  1. Use the delete option for the degree section
  2. Confirm deletion
  3. Success message: “Se eliminó grado academico”
Deleting your academic degree removes it completely. You’ll need to re-enter all information.

Deleting All Academic Data

From the evaluation dashboard, you can delete the entire Academic Data section:
  1. Find the delete option for Academic Data
  2. Confirm deletion
  3. Both degree and all training records will be removed
  4. Success message: “Datos academicos eliminados”
This removes EVERYTHING: your degree and all training/certifications. Use with extreme caution.

Best Practices

What Training to Include

  • Required certifications for your position
  • C3 evaluations and certifications
  • Police academy or similar foundational training
  • Specialized law enforcement training
  • Recent courses (last 5 years)
  • Any training with official certification
  • Relevant workshops and seminars
  • Online courses with certificates
  • In-house training programs
  • First aid, CPR, or emergency response training
  • Language courses
  • Computer skills training
  • Very brief orientations (less than 4 hours)
  • Informal team meetings
  • Training without any documentation or verification
  • Irrelevant personal hobbies or interests

Accuracy Tips

  1. Verify dates: Check your documents for accurate dates
  2. Use official names: Use the institution’s full legal name
  3. Be specific: “Diplomado en Investigación” is better than “Curso”
  4. Document types matter: Know the difference between constancia, certificado, and diploma
  5. Keep records accessible: You’ll need to upload proof of education later

Common Scenarios

Situation: Started university but didn’t finish.Solution: List your highest completed degree (likely Preparatoria). Don’t list incomplete degrees.
Situation: Degree from another country.Solution:
  • List the degree type equivalent in Mexico
  • Include the country in the institution name
  • Note if it’s been validated/revalidated in México
Situation: Have both Licenciatura and Maestría.Solution: List only your highest (Maestría) in the degree section. You can mention the Licenciatura in capacitaciones if relevant.
Situation: Can’t find your certificate.Solution:
  • Enter “Extraviado” in document location
  • Contact your institution about getting a duplicate
  • You may need this for document upload later
Situation: Pursuing a degree right now.Solution: List your highest completed degree. Don’t include current studies unless you’ve officially graduated.

Validation and Requirements

Required: Highest Academic Degree

You MUST complete:
  • Último Grado (academicoUltimoGrado)
  • Período Inicio (academicoPeriodoInicio)
  • Período Final (academicoPeriodoFinal)
  • Institución (academicoInstitucion)
  • Tipo de Documento (academicoDocumento)
  • Ubicación (academicoUbicacion)

Optional: Training & Certifications

While not mandatory, adding relevant training strengthens your evaluation. Each training entry requires:
  • Detalle (capacitacionDetalle)
  • Inicio and Final dates
  • Institución (capacitacionInstitucion)
  • Documento (capacitacionDocumento)

Connection to Documents Section

Remember: You will need to upload proof of your education in the Document Requirements section:
  • Permanencia: Comprobante de Estudios (required)
  • Nuevo Ingreso: Comprobante de Estudios (required)
Make sure the degree you list here matches the document you’ll upload.

Section Completion

The Academic Data section is considered complete when:
  1. You have entered your highest academic degree
  2. All required fields for the degree are filled
  3. You have saved the information
Training/certifications are optional but recommended. Even without any additional training, the section can be marked complete if the degree is saved.

What Happens Next

After completing the Academic Data section:
  1. Your evaluation progress increases to approximately 50% (3 of 6 sections)
  2. Return to your evaluation dashboard
  3. Academic Data section shows as complete ✓
  4. Proceed to the next section: Career Trajectory

Troubleshooting

Can’t save degree information

Problem: Save button not working. Solution:
  • Ensure all required fields are filled
  • Check date formats are valid
  • Try refreshing the page

Training not appearing in list

Problem: Added training but don’t see it. Solution:
  • Verify you clicked save
  • Refresh the page
  • Check you’re on the correct evaluation

Which degree to list?

Problem: Unsure which of multiple degrees to enter. Solution: Always list your highest completed degree. If you have multiple degrees at the same level (e.g., two Licenciaturas), list the most recent or most relevant to your current position.
