You cannot remove a status that is currently used by tasks. Reassign those tasks first.

Task Status Attributes

Each task status has several attributes displayed in the settings:

Adding Task Types

The Task Types tab allows you to:
  • Add task types to the production

  • Sorting in reports and exports

Status Automations

Status automations automatically change task statuses based on conditions.

Common Automation Use Cases

Automatically set dependent tasks to “Ready” when upstream tasks are completed.Example: When Animation is Done → set Lighting to Ready
Change status based on approval or rejection.Example: When client rejects → set status to Retake
Enforce pipeline stages.Example: Don’t allow Compositing to start until all other tasks are Done

Background Images

Add background images for the preview player:
  1. Navigate to the Backgrounds tab
  2. Upload background images
  3. Set a default background for the production

Best Practices

Start Simple

Begin with minimal task statuses and types. Add more as needed rather than overwhelming your team with options.

Match Your Pipeline

Configure task types and statuses to reflect how your team actually works, not an idealized workflow.

Test Automations

Test status automations on a small set of tasks before rolling them out production-wide.

Document Decisions

Use the Brief tab to document important production conventions and decisions for team reference.

Exporting Production Data

You can export production information for backup or analysis:
  • Asset lists with metadata
  • Shot lists with task statuses
  • Task assignments and time tracking
  • Production statistics
Exports are available from the respective entity list pages (Assets, Shots, etc.).
